Summer Diary – A trip to Andalusia

One month has passed since our return from a crazy trip to Andalusia, south west Spain. In 14 days we explored 12 cities, slept in 9 different places jumping between hotels, hostels and Airbnbs, traveled more than 4000 km by car for a total amount of 46h of journey. Feew, an intense vacation, not exactly the relaxing kind, but the kind in which the places you visit are so beautiful and the adrenile level is so high that you would keep on walking and exploring for hours and hours, without feeling the fatigue and your feet exploding.

I had already been in Siviglia around 10 years ago in a school trip and it remained in my heart since then. It’s that kind of city that makes you want to move in and live it further. The atmosphere is unique, warm and welcoming and the architectures around the city are breathtaking: a unique mix of Mediterrain styles mixing up with Arabic heritage; I haven’t ever seen anything similar elsewhere. So I was so thrilled about the idea of being back again in the city and excited to show this gorgeous corner of Spain to Alessandro, Chiara, Cristina and the other gals.

So, luggage ready we started our long ride to South Spain, stopping by at Montepellier, then visiting Girona, Almeria, Tarifa, Granada, Ronda, Cadiz and then finally in Seville. On the way back we couldn’t avoid stopping by Cordoba and Valencia, that with their architectures leave absolutely breathless.

My fave part of the journey? Everything that you can’t see and feel in the photos, aka the car chit-chats, waking up all in the same apartment, knotted hair because of the too much wind, the “compartida” paella in the middle of the table and that magical sensation when you discover new cultures, new aesthetic and learn so much and so quikly.

Leaving you to the pictures – yeah, they’re quite a lot – but how can you choose one or another between so much beauty? I just can’t!

È passato un mese dal nostro rientro da un viaggio folle verso l’Andalusia. In 14 giorni abbiamo esplorato 12 città, soggiornato in 9 posti diversi fra hotel, ostelli ed appartamenti presi in affitto su Airbnb, percorso più di 4000 km per un totale di 46h di viaggio. È stato un viaggio intenso, non il genere di vacanza in cui ti riposi, ma quel genere di vacanza in cui i posti che esplori sono talmente belli e l’adrenalina è talmente tanta che continueresti a camminare ed esplorare per ore, senza sentire la stanchezza.

Ero già stata a Siviglia, una decina di anni fa con la scuola e mi era davvero rimasta nel cuore. È quel genere di città che ti fa venire voglia di andarci a vivere. L’atmosfera è unica, calda ed accogliente e l’architettura davvero impareggiabile: un mix di Mediterraneo che incontra i paesi arabi che non avevo mai visto prima. Così ero davvero emozionata all’idea di tornarci e mostrare quest’angolo di Spagna ad Alessandro, Chiara, Cristina e gli altri.

Così bagagli fatti, siamo partiti alla volta della Spagna del sud fermandoci dapprima a Montpellier, poi a Girona, Almeria, Tarifa, Granada, Ronda, Cadice e giungendo quindi finalmente a Siviglia. Sulla strada del ritorno poi non potevamo non fermarci a Cordoba e Valencia, che con le loro architetture lasciano a bocca aperta.

Ma la mia parte preferita del viaggio? Tutto ciò che in foto non si vede, ovvero le chiacchiere in auto, il risveglio in un unico appartamento, i capelli intrecciati perché il vento li scombina, la paella “compartida” posta al centro della tavola e quella magica sensazione di arricchirsi visitando ed imparando.
